Well, that's what Cruzin is telling me. If I rent my boat out "medium" times a month I can earn $2,400.00. It's a peer-to-peer rental, I set the price I want and decide who I will rent it to, and I decide on the terms of the rental--Cruzin is just the framework for bringing together the boat owners and renters.

Not a bad idea but I think I will pass with a new $50k boat...but it might not be a bad idea for an older boat.

If you live in an area where there is sufficient tourist traffic, year round good weather and you have time to clean and maintain the boat then it could work for a used boat that you are not stressed about damage to.

I believe you meet all that criteria.

The down side would be when the renter has trouble and you have to give up your fun time to rescue them.

They include a BoatUS tow policy with the rental so that would help with most on-the-water problems. On second thought, it might actually work for my 2002 LX 2000 since I'm not too worried about that boat--not sure how much anyone would pay for a day's rental for an LX but the average seems to be around $300-$400 for most boats in my area--I would definitely rent it out for that price to the right people.

One thing to consider, most insurance policies will exclude coverage.

Check your loan documents too. Many loans exclude anything commercial use.

I have no desire to turn my boat over to someone else who may have limited knowledge and abuse it. By the same thought i would never buy a rental car because I know how I treat rentals.......:devilhorns:
