Yesterday, The sunrise from Valcour Island…

And the sunset from the “Owl’s Nest”

Calm now, but the crossing from NY, back to Vermont around noon was "Sporty". Headed 30° off the 18-20kt South southeast winds taking 4-5 footers for an hour until we reached the leeward side of Providence Island. Valcour is just off the right side of the picture, behind the trees. Slip in Malletts Bay is lower left body of water, behind that big sugar maple blocking my view.

October 3rd is an 80 degree day at the beach. Wait, nobody is on the beach.

Well, today was beyond windy, so we got a bunch of work done since the wind made it quite comfortable

I'm not sure what exactly happened, still, but some fishermen saved at least one person from dying today, and another from drowning as well. It appears so far that one other person was not so lucky.

They brought the guy they pulled out of the water over to my pier, they were able to revive him, and it seems like he made it, but nobody who was part of the problem boat could speak English, and the boat they had rented for the day ended up on the rocks - 8 people supposedly on the boat, no one qualified to operate it... Sounds like alcohol was a definite factor, as well as horrible crew mates

Dive team was called in, but we saw them turning back around dusk, and it's likely my neighbor will hear from them tomorrow about whether or not they found the person who is still missing

I'm starting to keep clear of any of the rental pontoons in the area, seems like 90% of the problems are from these people

Reads like a typical accident report….

Whats even more amazing to me as a good portion of your lake is shallow enough to stand up in far from shore….

Deputies searching Lake Poygan for man who fell overboard as part of water recovery

2 were confirmed to be pulled out of the water by the group with that fishing boat on my pier, and it's confirmed that a third person is deemed to have drowned.

Thanks to the instincts of those people who were fishing, it's not 2 who drowned, and possibly 3. Kudos to them for their efforts

No lies there. Quite literally 100-ish feet from where they likely could have stood with their heads above water.

More stupidity, they were farting around at the mouth of the river, likely unaware that they were the giant PITA for every other boater on the river that day, but that's probably another thing that helped those other two to be rescued.

Surprised my wife with this purchase today. Found this old Buck Board Wagon. The wood has all been replaced with PT deck boards. I will give it another coat of sealer tomorrow. Not sure how old the original structure is but its been welded on and added stuff everywhere. Its just mainly for seasonal decorations maybe a hay ride or 2 for the grandbabies

Work weekend. Probably have to shut down the water for the house in 2 weeks or so, and with all the deaths and other life events this year, the lake house has taken a back seat.

Getting it back to workable condition for the plumbing work to come, has been a 2-day affair. 80% of the outside work was the wife, and 90% of the interior insulation and some electrical was me.

Hopefully next week, we'll be doing demo to that final yellow wall, and trying to move that J-box from the upper right on the window wall, to the yellow wall once the drywall is opened up.

Finish the electrical plan for that wall, have the electrician neighbor check it over and hook it up in the panel, and we'll have to finish the ceiling insulation, and drywall the whole smash.

Flooring is TBD, but that's a later date problem. Right now, the priority over all things, is that we need to get it insulated to gain 2 more months of workable conditions inside. Edging those walkways made it so much better for getting water from the well, and having a decent place to set up the grill so we can keep the kitchen clear

Typical Florida headlight wear after 9 years. Did the three step headlight polish for $25, saved me $400 from buying new assemblies.
Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit

1. Spray activator and wipe / rinse
2. Wet sand at 400 grit
3. Wet sand at 1000 grit
4. Wet sand at 2000 grit
5. Polishing compound
6. Spray activator and wipe / rinse
7. Apply UV clear coat
8. Let stand for 4-6 hours

A couple years back I did the LED conversion from the halogen bulb, and WOW are they bright now.

did the same to my new-to-me motorhome a couple of months ago, and was amazed by the results. definitely not as hard as I expected...just put in a little time on each.

How many times did you have EMS/police at your ramp this year? I know two for sure but I think there was at least one more........

That initial 400 grit scratch on the lens was nerve wracking, but at that point it couldn't be worse than it was and I was already committed. The true test is how long it will last, but even if I need to strip the UV clear coat off and do it again every couple of years, its a win for me.
