Boating day 22 2025. Beautiful late summer day, 91° high is the forecast.

Little behind on my days….

Boating day 23 2025.

On the water 0615 hrs… no one else on the water.

1758 hrs… a little while before I called it a day.. other boats showed up during the day but otherwise not too crowded at the lake. Much cooler than the day before, I think it got up to 80* at one point.. fishing has been pretty slow for me this year in terms of catching, lots of fishing, just not a lot of catching. Although I did catch a couple of 3 pounders late in the day. Might be he last hot day of the year, we shall see.

We went for a late day ride to a new watering hole (The Cove) on Lake Poygan. It was sunny, upper 70’s, and almost no wind - pretty much perfect. Since the boat is an hour away from where we live we don’t really hit the water after work but this was fun. Sat outside and had a pizza and a couple of drinks.

Had you been to Captain's Cove before? Haven't been able to get over there this year, but it's great to hear the new owners are doing food, might be a great spot to be able to add to the rotation, and a possible stop on the way home from the sandbar!

Nope, had never been to Captains Cove before they closed.

Seems like the entire interior has been remodeled - looks brand new. They only have pizza on the menu for now but will be expanding their food choices in the future. The owner and staff were super nice and very attentive - we will be back.

Annual trip up to my buddies lake house. We surfed for 24 miles we calculated. Pretty wild. He forgot his life jacket so he wore my wife's. 🤣 Took the neighbors little Scarab to dinner the first night and boy is that thing world's more responsive and easier to drive at idle. Can turn that thing super easy and fast on its axis. Also reverse actually works, instead of merely a suggestion. Lol!20250822_132316.jpg20250822_132543.jpg20250822_144621.jpg20250822_145445.jpgImage_20250821_202309_284.webp20250822_183547.jpg20250822_184746.jpg20250822_191300.jpg20250822_191304.jpg20250822_201126.jpg

It's wild the last few years how cool it has gotten so early. This very well may be out last outting and it sucks. Not sure what is so different about this year but I'm dreading the Fall/Winter more than I ever have before. Starting to teach the oldest how to drive. He wants to take the boaters safety test next year. 20250829_160626.jpg20250829_160632.jpg20250829_171625.jpg20250829_195300.jpg20250829_195312.jpg20250829_195333.jpg7e569479-7276-4231-9504-f6f7f3fa4253.jpg

Is that an adolescent Bald Eagle?
Sure is, despite what @drewkaree 's "expert" neighbor might tell you! That guy hatched this spring in a nest in that horse's field, in a tree right on the shoreline. There are actually two from that nest this year, after zero last year and one the year before...which is all about normal I think. The nest closer to my house had one this year, and three last year which is a lot more unusual.
