2000 Yamaha XL 1200 power loss at full throttle

Hello all, I have a 2000 Yamaha XL 1200 that loses power at full throttle. It has cut off on me once or twice when I do the “spinaroo” in the water. It does run fine when I don’t hit full throttle. Any suggestions as to what to check into??
