It looks like some shot the side of the boat. It would be interesting if this was a boat of a forum member, so you could get some history on the damage that caused the total loss claim.
 
Didn't 2017 have connext in the boat?
 
It definitely hit something, the front port side leg of the wake tower has a bend in it and the hole on the port side, from the pictures, it doesn't look like much damage. In my experience in the last year or so looking over Copart, it looks like the threshold of totaling vehicles has been lowered substantially.
 
Definitely not a 2017, no Connext, and the previous version tower.
 
Based on the large numbers on both sides of the stern I am guessing she was a rental.
