First time on the water this season and ran like a top. Powered down the boat once while on the water, and it fired right back up. Trailered it home, sprayed it off, and connected the engine rinse hoses. Attempted to start the engines, and neither start button does anything. Makes no noise or anything. Batteries are reading 12.5 volts each. Attempted the 5 key reset several times after killing the batteries for several minutes each time. I am noticing a beep sequence during the 5 key reset, but it's different almost every time. Sometimes, it's a long beep, short beep, long beep, while other times it's a single long beep or 2 long beeps. Not sure if that means anything since it's not consistent. I ruled out the cleanout hatch kill switch by looping the brown wires on the engine side. I connected it back the way it was after that and confirmed the switch is completing the circuit when pushed in. It has almost a full gas tank, and the oil levels are fine. It has a brand new house battery, but when I turn the key on, the voltage jumps up to 10.2 volts, then drops to 9.4 volts for a second or so, then jumps up to 12.5 volts. The starting battery jumps up to 12.5 volts almost immediately. I'm not sure if that's something new or not. I've checked all the obvious ground and positive connections. The boat only has around 40 hours on it, and everything looks like brand new. I've checked the lanyard kill switch connection. I have jiggled the gear shifters to make sure it's in neutral. I'm going to check the main relay next, but if that's not it, I have no idea what else to try. Any help would be appreciated.

Well your house batter sounds like it has issues… like there is an internal short. You’ve checked the obvious stuff like clean out hatch switches and lanyard switches and throttle position being in neutral. I take it your connext boots up properly? If the boat was running good before replacing the house battery….did you verify that the start battery is the start battery on the connext screen? With the iffy battery voltage makes me wonder if that new house battery is really tied onto the start cables?

On the hatch switch, one of the brown wires goes to the start buttons. The other goes to ground.
I suspect the start buttons ground the yellow wires from the BCU through the hatch switch to start the engines.
With the key in the on position, at the start switches I suggest you verify voltage on the yellow wires and ground on the brown.

Any YDIS codes?

I replaced the original house battery with a new one with the same specs and connected it the exact same way. There's no corrosion anywhere and I've checked all the connections. I have good continuity everywhere I've checked.

The screen boots up fine with no error codes. I discovered today that you can hold down the system icon on the screen to display additional diagnostic information. There is a YDIS Code: 1 but nothing else. Everything else looks fine and from the research I did, it sounds like the YDIS Code:1 means normal operation on my model boat. I did see that on some other watercraft, such as jetskis, it can mean a bad engine temp sensor but I don't think that's the case here and I don't think that would cause both engines not to start.

I will check the wires from the cleanout hatch kill switch again and report my findings. I'm sure this is something simple but it's got me stumped and Yamaha doesn't provide any help unless you take it to a dealer. Very frustrating.

I had a bad battery . it showed 12.5
v. When I replaced it with new , same size,
It shows 12.9V

Problem solved. I appreciate everyone's help. It turned out to be a bad neutral connection in the remote control wiring. I disconnected the wiring, cleaned all the connections, plugged it all back in, and it fired right up.

Winner Winner!!!

Could you post a couple pics where this bad connection was at so others can see?
