I have a new 255 XD, what is a good ballast configuration for wakeboarding? My son likes a longer wave to wakeboard on I have heard everything from 100% to zero ballast and I know you don't use the surf point when wakeboarding.

Come on. I know somebody out there. Wakeboards and not just surf

I don't have an X model, but I do wakeboard a lot behind my 212S with manual ballast. You can shape a good wave with just a ton of weight in the center, which will sink the boat and clean the edges. Depending on his preference for a sharp edge (port if goofy, stbd if normal stance), you may have to fill one of the sides a bit to clean it up.

If he REALLY likes to wakeboard, consider putting 500lbs of lead in the boat. With the proper alignment of those bags, you can get a really decent wave without even filling ballast, and a NICE wave with.

Also, I've found that it takes a minimum of 20mph to get enough speed to jump wake-to-wake (wide wakes on twin engine boats) - but that just be me because I'm old.

Thank you, that is very helpful. Yeah he likes to go 20 mph
