Advice on buying used AR210

Hello. I am new to the forum and looking for some advice on potentially buying a 2013 Yamaha AR210. Saw the boat for sale and owner is asking $28k. Boat has 220 hours on it. Condition looks excellent. I currently have an 18’ bowrider with a volvo I/O and looking for something slightly bigger and roomier for 5-6 adults and a dog. I was thinking about buying new but would consider used. The boat is 12 years old and wondering if you would offer any advice in considering this boat. Any known issues with this model? Any large maintenance items to think about?

Salt water or freshwater AR210? Does this 210 have the 1.8L engines? I don’t think there’s too much to worry about, except if it has the 1.8L engines there were years with timing chain issues, which most 1.8L problem chains were 2014-2015, but still some failed prior to 2014. It’s definitely a buyers market so when you buy you should be able to strike a good deal. With 6 adults and a dog, and I assume you’ll eventually bring kids on board, I’d recommend the 240 models instead, if you have the tow vehicle to pull it and can find a 240 model in the years 2016 and newer then you avoid the possible timing chain issue.

You wouldn't regret buying a 250 model either

Why are you moving away from the I/O to a jet? Like the layout? Been on one before? Captained one before?

Hot2Go - Freshwater only and given the location and hull condition (spotless), I believe it. The reason for the 210 vs 240 is the wife and I are often on the boat alone and trailer it to various locations. Managing the lines during launch on a bigger boat might be a bit much for her.

I like the layout much better on the jet boat and also will definitely test drive it first. Any estimate on a target price would be appreciated.

Well I did a quick marketplace search and found a 2021 AR210 with 75hrs for 38k and a 2017 w/155hrs for 34k.. Found some older ones prior to 2012 and they were $20k or less. I don’t know your financial situation but i would certainly buy newer if available in your area, unless you plan to pay all cash.. I know banks are higher interest rates/lesser term lengths on much older boats but you can do it.

If you go test drive it and all checks out I probably wouldn’t pay over 24k for it, I’m a cheapo and would even go lower, worst he could say is no. Per NADA boat values it’s listed for average retail price (28k), that’s with standard equipment, not sure if there’s any additions they’ve added. But it’s a buyers market, and not sure how long the person has had their boat listed for. I’ve seen jet boats sitting on the market for over 4 months now. When I sold my AR230 I listed it 6k less than the same exact boats on marketplace, still had to drop some to get major interest and get it sold.
