Hi everyone I have a jet powered Bristol Bay Salmon Gillnet boat with two 500mm jets and 600hp desiel engines. This forum is the place where all the R+D is done. I would love to have trim nozzles but that is a dream. My question is how to tune the nozzle diameter for maximum performance. The jets I have have only one nozzle diameter and one impeller option. So one must gear them to the engine power. Maximum power input is 800hp @ 1350 shaft rpm I have 600hp@1200 shaft rpm. Nozzle diameter is 11.75 inches. What I am asking is to maintain the same velocity what diameter would be best? I assume that if one reduced the diameter in the same ratio as the shaft speed it would be too easy. I can provide pictures of ridiculous jet boats and stories to trade for knowledge. Thanks for accepting me in the group.
