I recently bought a 242 ltd s e series and so far I love the boat. The only issue for me is the touchscreen does not work which makes navigating the menus a bit of a pain just using the knob. Are there any aftermarket options to replace the display? It seems like there is a lack of supply from Yamaha since these screens are listed at over 6k from most suppliers at the moment.
I’ve seen a lot of threads on issues with these screens like cracking and delaminating and this boat isn’t going to stop aging, so I’m hoping there’s something other than spending 12% of what the boat goes for on a simple display.
In the car world some people have managed to reverse engineer infotainment systems and offer some custom solutions that are pretty similar to what the connex does. On my C6 Corvette, for example, this guy KnightDriveTV managed to build a tablet that assumes the role of the infotainment system, controlling media and hvac, etc. he sells for about 1k.
