At the boat show last weekend the Yamaha dealer I purchased from had mentioned that the decibel noise level was reduced for the 2015 Yamaha jet boats but didn't really say if it was across the board. I looked on boattest.com and sure enough the decibel ratings have dropped but only two I see that were tested were the 242 Limited S @ max 88dBa and AR240 @ max 87dBa. Anyone know if the 21' models also had the noise level reduced? If so, do you know what those dBa ratings are?

My understanding is only the new hull boats (24 footers with keels) have the sound reduction completed.

I'm with @Julian on this one, as far as I know the 2015 21's and 19's are just cosmetic changes and no other changes were made. Only the 24ft's recieved the changes to hull, keel, sound reduction thus the lower dBa readings on them.

Hmm that is disappointing but trying to look on the bright side, maybe this is something we can look forward to in future improvements. Just don't tell my wife that the sound reduction was not on the 212x... SHHHHH!! She hasn't even heard it run and already complaining it's to loud :D

I do hope Yamaha applies the same sound reduction techniques to the 21 foot boats as they have to the 24s. Perhaps in 2016.
