Everyone seems to cross in June / July so I assume that's when the weather is most predictable. I live in Canada but my parents have a boat in Florida. I'm there in October and was wondering if a crossing then is wise? Anyone with first hand experience?

i never crossed but lived in FL, I would think June/july cause sea is mostly calm and have more chance of successful crossing. If you are a retiree and time/schedule is not an issue. There is always random calm day anytime of the year but its not a guarantee. Also prepare to stay longer in bimini if good weather to cross back to FL is not possible. This will also depend on boat size and what can you tolerate.

Winds are stronger and waves are higher in Oct. Also peak hurricane season to add to the complexity.
