Maneuvering our boat into the garage requires me to turn the trailer 90 degrees 2 times. Each time, the winch handle is centimeters away from tearing up my tailgate. To remedy this, I removed the retainer bolt, drilled a hole through the shaft, and secure the handle on the shaft with a quick release pin. Works like a charm and no more worrying about tearing up the truck!
So you have to make a tight and slow U turn in reverse to store your boat? That is crazy! How long does that take? Is another alternative to mount the winch handle on the other side of the winch?
