Reverse module fault - please help!

Today I got a reverse module fault, boat went into limp mode. The buckets were loose and wouldn’t drop into place when putting the throttle in neutral. They also were low enough to disrupt the water flow and prevent forward motion, but wouldn’t go far enough down to be in full neutral position. I had to use a bungi cord to hold them up so I could get back to the launch. After getting the boat out of the water, nothing outside the boat seems to be damaged. I can’t find any info on this system, how it works, or where it is. Has anyone dealt with this? Really want to avoid going to the dealer for this.

The boat is a 2019 Scarab 255ID with the twin 250’s.

Update: I tested the relays and one seems to be bad. Went to AutoZone and got another one this morning and will put it in to test.

Is the linkage supposed to be loose in the back? As in should I be able to move the buckets up and down a bit?

On the manual systems yes, it's normal to have a bit of play. I'm guessing the same for yours. But I don't have the electronically controlled system.

Hard to tell with that error since it can come up with completely unrelated systems. But look for the mechanism on your starboard side that controls the bucket. You should be able to spot it pretty easily. Check to see if it's bent or anything of the sort. Just search the scarab section for reverse or iBR and you'll find some pics. Sorry, I'm out camping and have limited Internet.

I must be not understanding what the issue is, I’m new to jet boats. I got the reverse module fault error, and the buckets stopped moving. I was thinking it must be something to do with the actuator that moves the buckets and that’s what got me looking at the linkage and this part pictured below. Is this the actuator that is moving the buckets? Nothing looks bent. Thank you for taking time to reply also!

The error sadly is kind of a "catch all". Many different things can trigger it such as even a low battery.

I'm not sure I can help you, especially since I don't even have this. Hopefully someone else chimes in with possible ideas.

I'm new too, but have learned the Scarabs are very finicky with low voltage and will ruin the relays. Check Relays 1st 2 on both engines, Then battery voltage. They have a history of bending the cable at the INR but by your picture that doesn't seem to be the case. If you store it outside and water gets in the boat the bilge will run the batteries down as well causing low voltage, I suggest a battery tender will help avoid issues. There is also an INR breaker next to the Battery Switch if its tripped could be an issue, There is a fuse on the back side of the switch to check if the breaker doesn't reset.
