I’m selling an AR240 and have a buyer asking about running it in salt water. Anything special that needs to be done prior to running it in salt water?

I like to spray all of the metal hardware, engine and pump with silicone protectant spray prior to dipping in salt. I use Bioshield T9 corrosion protection spray. After you're done riding in the salt you will want to flush the engines with Salt Away and also soak your boat and trailer EVERYWHERE with another dispenser full of salt away.

Nothing you wouldn't have to do to any other boat...

We boat exclusively in salt/brackish water and our routine includes:
  • washing/spraying down the boat and trailer EVERY time
  • and ALWAYS flushing the engines after each use
I would also recommend stainless boat buckles and at least twice a year spending a few hours going over the snaps and twist locks with vinegar to keep them operating smoothly.

Other than that, just general boat maintenance is all that's required.
(lubing connections, trailer maintenance, etc) imho
