I wanted to know how much people are paying for boat insurance and what kind of coverage?
I am with Boat US/Geico and paying almost $800 per year.

There are tons of threads on this:

Keep in mind that you can't compare insurance easily due to:
  • Age--the younger you are the more you will pay
  • Claims- the more claims you have the more you will pay
  • Location -- where you boat impacts your cost....FL is high, Great Lakes is high, Ocean is high, inland small lakes low.
  • Amount covered - how much is your boat worth
  • Types and levels of coverage - medical payments, deductibles etc.

Just signed a brand new policy with Ski Safe for our 2019 212 Limited S. Boat and trailer insured at $50k, $1k deductible, $100k liability, $25k medical, some limited towing at 500 bucks and 1k in personal belongings coverage. We also opted to add-on consequential loss. With a great credit score, 30 years of boating experience and the safe boaters course here in NJ, annual premium was $379.

$800 a year sound pretty high. I had Progressive but switched to Geico and pay around $300 now.

It’s all about the amount of coverage and the factors set delivery above. I have 500k, $500 deductible, boat with 53k coverage. $760 a year

Progressive. $975/yr

$500,000 liability, $1k deductible, had to match certain items with our umbrella coverage.

Ar190 in Massachusetts, 1k deductible, million dollar liability, under 300/yrs with Liberty Mutual

Doesn’t hurt to shop around. I saved over $200 when I switched for even better coverage. Was shocked there can be such a big difference.

Ask SkiSafe and BIA to quote your policy. I am paying 1/2 what Geico/Boat US wanted.

I switched from Geico to State Farm and pay like 25% what i was paying. Geico is a ripoff.
