Differences between the Newer 4 Cycle Yamaha Jet Boats

My fears have been confirmed....someone has deleted whole rows and columns of data from the online sheet! Grrrrrr

If you look at the first post, it links to a shared google sheet that contains lots of stuff - the most interesting I find is the historical price of all the boats. Someone just posted a 2013 SX 190 for sale on FB for 31K and I was curious to see what MSRP was for that boat - $25,999. This market is NUTS!!!!

Especially with homes.... 5 years ago I saw a home listed for $198k. Same home today it went on the market for $550k here in Utah....

daaaamn! well if they really want an old boat thats still cheaper than buying a new one. hey why not lol.

Any info on the weight of these boats over the years?

I used to have a 2008 SX230 and have upgraded to a 2019 242 Limited SE. It seems to be markedly heavier, both towing and in the water for acceleration. My fuel efficiency is lower because of it.

In the water, the newer hull design over the sx230 is less efficient. Seems like in their efforts to make it ride smoother, they are also slower.

Heavier on the truck: there are a lot of threads on here regarding tongue weight on the 24’ boats and many have moved the bow stop back 6 inches or more to scoot the boat back and lighten the tongue weight. It made a huge difference for me.

Just look at the bow alone going from a 230 to 240/242 hull. Much wider and more room for 4 adults. I will take the newer hull any day for that extra bow room.

When I compared a 232LS to a 242LS, from the windshield back, they were nearly identical. An owner is about the only one that could see the interior difference. But the bow was night and day different, and worth any loss in efficiency in my book.

I've been around a lot of the newer models and agree that the bow room difference is significant. The swim platform is also significantly lower in the water. I don't care for the look though.

Has the google spreadsheet been trashed again?

Yes, it keeps getting trashed, which is why I was concerned about making it editable. There model year forums have uneditable grids I put together for each model year that compares against prior years.

Make it a pdf / non editable in the published form…you put too much effort into putting that out for someone to mess with it.

Hi @Julian & friends. I restored the Google docs Yamaha Jet Boat matrix tonight (link in first post of this thread) to the last-known-good state from June '22. Also cleaned up a few things and locked the document for edit. @Julian and a few others (and I) have edit rights. I added a new tab with instructions on how to submit new data. Hopefully this will prevent future accidents and preserve everyone's hard work going forward.

Thank you for doing that!!!
