Differences between the Newer 4 Cycle Yamaha Jet Boats

I am trying to understand which boats have supercharged engines. Are the AR192 and SX192 the only models that use the super chargers? I looked at the spreadsheet on this thread, which is incredible, but I didn't see the number of engines or supercharged vs. non-supercharged.

I did see the model with the stripper pole (optional). Great, complete wrap up on boat models!

@4x15mph Only the 192 has the supercharged engines in the Yamaha line so far.

AFAIK, those are the only 2 to use superchargers, bumping it up 30hp. (also only single engine).

My guess is that they bring out a SC for the bigger motors next year.

We've all been guess that for a while though right?

Supposed yamaha test results were too much fuel consumption and not much performance gain on a dual engine boat...

But that's here say too LOL

@Julian: Thanks for all of the great work you do here on this important thread !

I need to look at and update the xls for the 2015 changes.....any volunteers????

Hey @Julian, took a quick skim and noticed a couple things...
  • You have the wrong stereo for the 2013+ AR210, they all came with Clarion HU, not the JBL. 2012s had the JBL.
  • Also isn't the TDE standard as well for all boats with plastic bucket style? If so that was one of the 'upgrades' in the 210 from 2012 to 2013+ as well.

I added some info on the 2014 AR192.

Somewhat on-topic... is there a written description of the very basic differences in platforms? Something like "ARs and SXs have towers, SSs has really nice seats and beefed up power", etc.
Editors note: I made up the above examples... I have no idea.
I'm looking for a ballpark idea of what's what in case I end up shopping for an upgrade... something to tell me what's the baseline model, what am I looking for if I care more about speed or what model is going to have the most creature comforts. Looking at spreadsheets is great if I need particular features, but I'm more interested in the "soul" of the thing, for lack of a better term. :S

Yea i wish yamaha would have a compare boats page..and an archive would be very nice too like seadoo has.

@Julian, it looks like capacity on the 24' have gone up to from 11 to 12 people/2700 lbs.

Also, is there anyway to do a side profile overlay of the 24' boats? I am trying to see the difference in freeboard between the 2014 and 2015 boats and not having much luck.

Wow this is great and a lot of work. I may be wrong (this is from memory) but I think the 2010 242 LS has a passenger limit of 10. It seems like many of the standard items are not marked (swing away hitch, pop up cleats, glove compartment, compass, swim mats, etc.) is this from a brochure or maybe I don't understand the standard. I have the owners manual and a brochure that I can look at if you would like.

Can I run the Yamaha 212 SS with one motor only, and how long?

Can the Chaparral 223 VR go with one motor only?

You absolutely can run on one engine in the Yamaha. That being said... If you decide to go over no wake speed with only one engine running you will want to ensure that you cut off water to the non running engine to prevent water entering the engine. Most do this by installing tow valves or just a standard clamp of some sort.

No Clue on the Chapps.
