As the title suggests, I am wondering if anyone has managed to squeeze a set of larger speakers into the cockpit.

I am already swapping the factory 6.5” speakers out with:
-6 x 6.5” JL M6’s
-10” M6 sub under rear starboard (or port) cockpit seat

Has anyone managed to squeeze a set of larger speakers to the bow side of the existing cabin speakers? I’m hoping to squeeze a set of JL Audio M6 8.8” speakers there. Photos of your setups are helpful.

Photo of placement I am thinking below (blue circles…not to scale…boat is still shrink wrapped for winter):

I personally wouldn't bother. It's a ton of work and your money is better spent on tower speakers. The 8.8s are mammoth compared to the 6.5s.

It’s not much work really. Cut a hole, run a speaker wire, hook it to the amp. I want the sound in the cockpit, not 40 feet behind the boat + the tower speakers cost more than the coaxial

you want them right next to the 6.5s? not making the 6.5 hole bigger for 8.8?

I think it’s the only place in the cockpit with enough depth to fit the 8.8. I’m wanting to add 8.8’s in addition to the 6.5.
