There is a thread from last year that was revived for this run. So i thought i would start a dedicated 2019 thread. Im going to tag some people who may be interested or stated interest in the old post. In the past we started in New Bern and rod the river and ICW out to Beaufort and then out in the ocean to the light house. For those who have not been in the ocean it is only a few miles to the light house and u are following the coast the whole time. We may also want to start closer to the light house if people dont want to cruise so far. We are upf or either .. the last time we made the run we started in New Bern and stopped at a resturant in Beaufort.. Then fueled up and went to the light house. It was too cold to anchor and get out... but june would not be an issue. @Dan_NC , you posted in March about the windjammer Inn. Are you still willing to call and see what they may have avaliable? Will the June Dates work for you @Dan_NC ? We have members in the area that can give local guidence. Below are the names of those who showed interest.

Possible. I'll be down there the first part of the month and may be tough to get back down there. We'll see though as my parents live in Jacksonville. So not too far from there. I'd rather put in closer to beaufort, though.

As I mentioned in the other thread, the date works great for me. I might make a weekend of it out there. Is it better to leave from New Bern? I was even thinking of going to the coast and maybe doing a trip up to New Bern and back, and then being based at the beach I could spend the other day doing lighthouse and stuff there....

At least we have the conversation started here.

Is it creepy to go on the area map and tag a bunch of people in the area?

I may be interested as well. I’ll have to check dates

@Shookie Not creepy it's what I did for Lanier gathering.

I'd love to, but can't do this kind of long trip til the baby gets a bit older.

Wish i could talk to the wife into letting me do this on the ski.

Is this trip doable in a day? Or do you all stay overnight?

Its do able.. long day... we did it all in one day two years ago... but this year we will prob go down friday night and stay in a hotel somewhere

I’ve done it both in a day and as an overnight.

Question..... would it be better to setup in Beaufort or somewhere around there.... do a run up to New Bern and back. Then, for any of us that might stay overnight, we are at the ocean for the next day? Personally, I'd rather do that and make a weekend out of it. Thoughts?

We wont stay and boat on sunday.... everyone has school and work on monday... we will prob go down on friday night and stay in a hotel... boat on sat... maybe spend the night again on sat just for the fun of it and return home on sunday morning.... I am game for either but I'll only have saturday to do it.

@bronze_10 late June works well for us. Let me touch base with the windjammer and see if they can block rooms for a discounted rate.

Would love too, let me know the dates, later June is probably a bit better. Of course the thought of the ocean and a 19ft boat makes a bit nervous. Maybe it shouldn’t?
Thanks for the tag @Shookie

Well honestly the wave forecast will determine how much ocean riding we do..
