New Bahamas rules scheduled for July 1st

The latest I read in the Bahamian news report from Friday's debate is that AIS will be required only for 50' and over.

Garmin sells an AIS (AIS 800 Blackbox) for about $860 (at Hodges). Uses your VHF antenna, and doesn't need calibration.
I just haven't seen that in writing and my window for getting any money back is about to shut.
I have to drive 24 hours down there so I need to be very sure of everything before I take my family across the gulf stream and be at the mercy of another government..
The weather is enough to deal with.

Do you already have the paperwork done and fees paid? If so I’d think you’d be fine even going after July 1

BTW Lake of the Ozarks is not that impressive. Table Rock Lake is much better (so is Lake Stockton in my opinion, but I like it quiet).
In about 7 years I will be living on Pensacola Bay, feel free to stop by anytime.

We are talking tonight that since she has family in Tampa we may head down anyways and if it works out then great. If they don't sort things out by the first of July we are looking at Lake Cumberland as it's one of our favorites. We know we are spoiled with Lake Michigan beaches and water. The only better beaches ive been to are in the gulf or Caribbean. We have 6k factored for this vacation (towing a boat both ways ain't cheap and a hotel is usually warranted). So if we lose our bimini cove stuff we would have plenty to tow, fill boat and get places to stay.

Aint that the truth. It was 1/2 the cost of the entire vacation last time we went over. Glad I’m only 10hrs away now.
20250601_202408.jpgthis is about where i live. Southernmost point of Lake Michigan. Loooong drive to Florida and we usually do it once or twice a year.

Yep, it’s a long one but well worth it. Did it twice while I lived up there about 2.5hrs west of ya and ended up moving down here.
