Reverse module error

Hey any pics?
I replaced mine last year on 2019 255. Maybe I can help? Added a pic of it off thought it might help.IMG_6821.jpeg

Yes thank you. That is the exact same housing on my vortex. So the cable is attached at the boomerang looking plate. How do you separate the two? Is there a cotter pin behind it or something?

Ok yours is setup different though. I also identify two other other issues with my vortex. One is the was a black wire loom that has a few circuits in it that was obstructing the boot from moving back and forth. Also get this, the cup holder drain hose was detached leading to water dripping down back behind the breaker board.

Also I found the issue for now power to the module. There is a tiny hidden breaker underneath the 30am thermal breaker. I had no idea it was there until I stumbled upon it
Once this was reset the module can right on and the error codes cleared from my dash screen.

Well here I am back again with ereverse module error. Left us on the water with no reverse and a wild docking situation. Pulled the boat and went over everything. I cannot find anywhere on this app or online how to remove the module. It is tucked behind the main battery and I can’t figure out how to disconnect the cable from the assembly. It’s attached by a treaded gold screw with no way to remove it. The relays actuate everything but the there is no life to the reverse module. It’s every time we take the boat out. For Sale signs are now my new side stickers.
When this happened to me, it was a bent cable and it did throw a code as well. It was bent at the INR module. Not sure what year boat yours is but they did redesign the bracket that holds the cable to eliminate future issues. Good luck.

I have a 2017 243vrx. So I have power and the module is moving on forward and reverse commands from the throttle lever but now that you mention a bent cable and looking at my photo (the wire loom now moved), does that cable appear to be bent and the bracket? To me it does. The module is also ‘stressed’ or twisting when moving back and forth, like it’s fighting the buckets.

Well I had to tear down the whole output and bucket assembly and pull the module to fix a bent cable. Maybe the next inr cable will serve my Chaparral better.

IMG_1478.JPG.jpegcan you guys give me a little more context as to where this module is? I have a 2019 scarab 255 and just got the reverse module error yesterday and also had a very interesting docking experience. I bungled the buckets up so I could get a little forward thrust and that got me home. I pulled all 4 relays out, and one tested bad. I replaced it earlier this morning and went back to the dock, dipped the back into the water and fired up the engines and had the same error, except this time, the starboard engine was having a hard time starting. it did start but they typically fire right up. both batteries were testing to 13.6 volts.

im not sure if the buckets are supposed to be loose, but they are loose enough that with gravity, they interfere with the flow out of the jet. the linkage outside of the boat seems to be intact and no issues.IMG_1479.JPG.jpeg

I have not experienced a mechanical failure with the reverse module, but I do know the linkage rod needs to lubricated ever so often. I noticed the end bracket was flexing when shifting like the linkage rod was not lubricated. I used "Fluid Film" and sprayed inside a 10cc syringe with a luer lock end. Pressed Tygon tubing over the syringe luer lock. Removed the linkage rod from the jet drive, slide the rubber boot back to expose the rod inside the sheathing, slipped the tubing over the linkage rod end and used a hose clamp to seal. I then injected the lube inside the linkage rod. Surely a commercially available lube setup for this, but what I did worked for smooth shifting.

I did have a electrical shifting failure once but it was because I forgot to attach the hot wire to the battery.

this second photo is the module. There is a motherboard inside the housing that is said to rarely go bad. Also, there is a motor with nylon link gearing that controls the position of the bucket drop. There should be slight play in the buckets but with the module calibrated at the right distance, the buckets need to be all the way up, clear of water flow from the jets. This gentleman's video at 15:30 shows the module in action from the inside of the housing.

From that pix, Yes it looks bent. Scarab redesigned the Cable and Bracket to eliminate this issue. Call Karen at Jersey Jet Boats (862) 221-0717 she is very knowledgable about these and is a Certified BRP Tech and has all the needed parts in stock. She is so helpful with these boats and will save you tons of time and money.

Yes, the bent cable seems to have been my issue this time. All the new parts have come in and installed and everything appears to be functioning properly without codes on screen. You are correct that a new plate does come with the new inr cable. IMG_3911.jpeg
The new plate is on the bottom.

Also, for those that may be new to this error, with the boat out of the water you can turn on the battery selector to 1, turn the key ignition to the on position and from your screen settings select Ereverse and then the override prompt.
IMG_3914.jpeg
This will allow you to troubleshoot, calibrate and use the module forward and reverse (from the throttle lever) without the engines running.

New plate, new cable!
