Guys need some help on a 2018 242X water coming into engine compartment non stop. What is this behind the engine? Is this a shaft for impeller? Is this part of the engine where it connects to back of boat? Luckily, I was able to get it on the trailer. There was no power at all from that engine, but the bilge pump was red and working overtime. Maybe a seal?

Can’t tell from your picture but I assume you’re talking about your intermediate bearing housing? That is the connection between your engine and the jet pump. Have you been adding lube to the bearing housings as required per maintenance schedule? Search for bearing housings leak to see what all is involved to fix.

Edit - this will show you intermediate bearing replacement info.

looks like the intermediate bearing in the picture is probably bad try holding a hose aimed at it and see if water passes by it and out of the hull if so it is toast

Dont just assume its the intermediate bearing, verify whats leaking or have the person repairing it verify the leak
Also check the other end of the white scupper hose in the picture. Broken plastic scuppers are a known reason for water ingress. There have been failures on the 240 series boats.

Wow! it has been a quite season so far this is the first that I have read water in the engine compartment. This gets reported here usually about 5 to 8 times a season, how many times is it not reported ? luckily you caught it every time I see this My first statement is how is a water alarm not a safety requirement. These devices are so cheap and reliable. Amazon has various types that are so inexpensive they run on 9v batteries and last about 4 years before needing to be replaced and any time you open the engine compartment lick your finger and touch the sensor to test. Hang the sensor about 2'' above the bilge pick up when it rings you know something needs immediate attention. They even have wifi battery operated if you have a signal by your boat dock

9v siren type you can easily hear it with the motor running just zip tie it in the engine compartment
