Perhaps the 24 is governed? Guess if same RPM, that's not it.. weird, maybe something off on that 24... who knows.. All I can say is my 1.8 and 1.9 in same hull are probably similar in top endThere was a guy was a 23 and 24 wave runner. Said the 24 was quieter but wouldn’t get past 59 mph. The 23 would do 67. Same rpms with both skis.
That makes sense then and probably why yamaha mentions about 6mph increase if I did SX to SX... maybe I'm seeing 2-4mph due to tower weight. So if you went from a 2019 SX190 to the 2024 AR190, I will say there is a slight weight difference due to the tower, which will make the boat 3-4 mph slower.
When I compared a 2023 SX195 to the 2023 AR195 I purchased, the mph was I believe 54 mph compared to 50 mph for my boat.
Long to short, the 2024 tower is slowing you a bit otherwise I believe you would have seen a bigger difference if say you purchased a 2024 SX190.
I think I got just a tad over this like 2.6/2.7 ish. I refill used oil nto the empty bottles to see what I was able to extract. I did put new oil amount of 2.75 and it's right at the top hole of the dipstick. Mine came a tad low from the factory and I immediately filled about .5qt when I got the machine. My son just did his first oil change on his 1.9 waverunner he only could get out 2.5 quarts. Was this your experience maccam26? thanks
How do you like the ar190? Salesman was telling me it’s underpowered and to go with 195 but I really don’t want supercharger maintenance or premium gas. Is ar190 good enough for family tubing and sports and running around or do I really need 195I jumped form a 2019 SX190 to a 2024 AR190 this year. So same size boat and hull. Overall after 5 hours, the 1.9 has a bit more torque and is a little quieter around 22-25 cruising speeds. It is not a night and day difference though and I wouldn't change for sake of the 1.9. I changed because I wanted the bench seating and tower. My top speed is around 40mph with the 1.9 which I believe is measured with GPS satellites now vs old boats had innacurate paddle that showed higher speeds.. this is probably why some comment it is slower. In fact, the GPS top speed of my 1.8 was probably 36-38mph but the speedo showed 41-42. the 1.9 shows about 40mph gps... so it is probably a 2-4mph increase in top speed. Still slow, if you want top speed the NA 1.8 or 1.9 is not the best option. I want cheap gas, no supercharger.
I think it certainly is fine for most, unless 6-8 people all the time in the boat. We are 3-4 and it’s fine. Would I like the supercharger on occasion for the hole shot , sure… but day to day, cheap gas, ok power and less money for the boat were all factorsHow do you like the ar190? Yamaha does not have supercharger maintenance like a seadoo doo does. Very reliable. Blow off valve is recommended to protect the supercharger clutchHow do you like the ar190? When I purchased my boat in 2023, I asked the Yamaha tech at Chatlee about installing a blow off valve, and he looked at me like I was talking Greek...Yamaha does not have supercharger maintenance like a seadoo doo does. Very reliable. Blow off valve is recommended to protect the supercharger clutch
