Took my 2012 242 LS out today for the first time in 3 weeks. As soon as I put in I notice that my port motor isn't responding to no wake mode inputs. RPM only increases on starboard. I get out of the channel and everything is great under normal throttle control. After a great day with no problems coming back into the cove to put the boat on the trailer everything is working fine both motors respond normally in no wake mode. I will say the starboard motor ran a little rough when I first started up but nothing too bad. Thoughts?

No wake requires certain TPS reading before it will engage. Maybe throttle was a little sticky and open more than permitted?

If it's all working well now, just keep an eye on it. If you are very curious and have YDS for your boat, you could read the tps voltage and degree position at idle from the computer and compare to other engine to see if anything interesting appears.

What's weird is the NWM message was displayed on both tachs...

If the motor(s) were running rough put in a new set of properly gapped OEM spec’s spark plugs.

This has been reported by many with boats of our vintage. I have experienced it myself and never understood what causes it. Usually after a quick shutdown of boat motors, it will work again.

This season, I never had it happen. But it usually happens to me at least once a season. No way to troubleshoot as it happens so infrequently. So the trustworthy reboot and resume was my solution.

I will say, my use of it has increased greatly in the past couple seasons as we use it for putt-putts around the lake every time out. So maybe it was lack of use? HA

Good luck.
