Had an issue today where the 7 wires that connect to the 5 wire connector got tore out on the dual axle ShoreLandr' trailer that came with my 2018 242LSE. I would go into detail on how this happened but @drewkaree suspended my Man-card earlier today (a decision that was fully supported by @FSH 210 Sport - those two are as thick as thieves) and if I fess up to how this happened I may never get it back. :)

I use an adapter with where the 5 wire connector plugs into one end and has the round 7 wire connector that plugs into my truck on the other end:

This is the plug that got ripped off the end of my trailer cable - I just ordered another one that should arrive tomorrow:

This is what's left at the end of the cable on my trailer - 5 wire plug gone:

From what I've been able to gather:
  • The yellow/brown/white wire cluster is left turn/brake/running (yellow and brown) and ground (white).
  • The green/brown/white wire cluster is right turn/brake/running (green and brown) and ground (white).
  • Blue wire is for the reverse lockout
I have not been able to find a wiring diagram that shows how the second brown and second white wire connects to the 5 wire plug. I'm assuming that this is the pin-out but I don't like making assumptions if I can avoid it:

Obvious connections:
  • Green wire on trailer cable to green wire on new 5 wire plug (left turn and brake)
  • Yellow wire on trailer cable to yellow wire on new 5 wire plug (right turn and brake)
  • Blue wire on trailer cable to blue wire on new 5 wire plug (reverse lockout)
My assumptions:
  • Both brown wires on the trailer cable to brown wire on new 5 wire plug (running lights for left and right)
  • Both white ground wires on the trailer cable to the white ground wire on the new 5 wire plug

This is a pretty common trailer for the 24's so if someone would have a chance to look at their 5 wire plug and confirm if my assumptions are correct I would greatly appreciate it.

I would say your assumptions are correct. You could just wire it into a 7 pin plug & be done with no adapter.

When those other two aren’t around I’d love to hear about your latest adventure👍

Here’s a wiring diagram for the seven way that is on your truck, your five to seven pin adapter will connect the five wire to the seven wire according to the diagram. But in the case of your boat trailer you will not have the 12V aux power or the trailer brakes.

The white wires will be connected together at the same pin location which is ground or common.
The brown wires will be connected together at the same pin location which are your marker lights and tail lights.
The reverse lights which are purple on the new plug will be connected to your trailers blue wire to activate the solenoid for trailer brake bypass.
The rest is self explanatory.

Use a test light or a multimeter to assure the correct wiring location on your trucks seven pin connector before wiring up the new plug. I’m kinda with @Babin Farms and I’d just wire in a seven way plug but the adapter thing will obviously work just fine.

It terms of your man card, it was not how the plug got ripped off it was your assessment of “rough” conditions on the way out to your spot yesterday.

As I told you yesterday your card loss is temporary

This revocation can be reversed by a sufficient amount of hazing that will be determined at a later date by the revoker of the man card. Alcohol should be avoided so excessive hazing does not occur.

Now you’ve done it!! The bold text above is against the Man card constitution in Wisconsin and can result in YOU having your Man card revoked should you ever step foot in the Badger state.

I think we need a ruling from the Mayor of Sandbarville (@drewkaree) who is the final arbiter in these types of situations - may God have mercy on your soul…….

I don’t normally assist men who are in man card revocation protocol, but the two who put you there are of dubious reputation, so I’ll bend the rules. 😂

All information above is correct. The reason there are two whites, and two browns is because they run a white/brown/yellow cluster down the left side, and white/brown/green cluster down the right side. White is ground, brown is running lights, yellow is left turn, green is right turn. Blue is reverse lockout.

Now, all that said, I would’ve personally just bypassed using an adapter, and wired in an RV plug so you never have to worry about an adapter again. If you change direction and go that route, I’ll be happy to help with that as well. I sell and service trailers for a living, so while I certainly haven’t seen it all, I have seen a lot over the last 30+ years. 😊

Well, as the big Lebowski would say, “Hey man, new shit has come to light”

After talking with WiskyDan and finally getting past his modesty and I found out what actually what happened, the following is how the 5 pin connector was lost from the trailer.

Apparently he was attacked by at least 7 wolves while at the boat ramp at night, he did what any man would do and made an improvised weapon of the trailer cord to fend them off. After dispatching all of them he found that the plug had apparently been bitten off by one of offending beasts. Grabbing his hook knife out of his boat kit he opened them all up in an attempt to find the now missing plug but the plug was gone and he was left with only the frayed wires.. I’m sure Thor would agree that WiskyDan not only has an intact man card but has now secured his place in Valhalla as a true warrior..

Here’s a stock image of WiskyDan and his fellow Wisconsinite boaters returning from a day at the sand bar.. man what studs, they have no fear of the arrows of hate being flung by those of jealous discontent.

The story is mostly true, there were at least 12 of the beasts!!!

Those are a couple of the new SeaDoo jet-drive “Longship” boats in the background. Much more stable than the Switch and are designed for marauding Nordic (or central Wisconsin) villages - turns out the handle bar helm works well in rough seas.

I need to lie down to regain my strength - fighting off 19 of those four-legged hounds from hell have taken their toll on these old bones…..

He's honorary Wisco, it's really just a piece of paper and a nominal fee, but there's only so much you can teach during a 6-pack course. The rest comes with time, and I think his money won't go nearly as far as his current station.

You were stuck in no-man's-land. Pics, or it didn't happen, but those pics you DID post...

After my harrowing experience with the 26 wolves, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s tactical response team tracked them back to their lair…….

As for the heavy seas, here’s a photo - we lost a lot of good men out there. Never mind the writing in the upper left corner - my camera adds random text to photos sometimes…….

I could have given up and turned back but it’s not in my nature - did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, never!!

Remember to hit me up when you get that 7-pin plug, I'll get you the heat shrink and those solder connectors.

If you can bring your Barbie Dream Truck over, I've got proper electrical tools to do it right. Don't you DARE let that Scarab Heathen "friend" of yours sabotage you with his "help". Bad enough he hobbled you with worse skills as a 2nd mate than the Admiral 🤦‍♂️
