Sealing Pump Tunnel

Hey Folks-
I know this has been discussed, but what is recommended to seal the gaps in the pump tunnel?
4200 or 5200 sealant ? Seems like I've seen both used looking at other posts.
Also, what is the best way to pry off the intake grate without breaking it ?

5200 is more workable/sandable than 4200. Some have used JB weld, waterweld.

I currently have everything from the tunnel castings back taken off of the boat. The first round of intake "porting" made so much of a difference I'm doing V2.0 on it right now. A little more aggressive on the transition from the intake tunnel into the wear ring area to smooth the flow. I also cleaned up the vanes and nozzles quite a bit, basically ended up with a pretty big pile of aluminum shavings on the floor of my shop! Just little details that can only help in the efficiency of the pumps. I also painted all the pump parts gloss black, just because I didn't like the bare aluminum...

OK, Where's @swatski and @gmtech16450yz ?!??! I need someone to tell me I didn't just make a ginormous mess out of my pump housing.

Been fighting a cavitation problem under load when tubing. Might be technique on my part, but still bugs me. Put an L13 cone on a few weeks ago, lost some RPM, but still had the cavitation while turning/tubing. Read lots of talk of resealing the pump to keep cavitation at bay. So here's what I did about it.

Picked up some marine sealant. Finding 3M 5200 around here on a Saturday is like pulling teeth. Loctite has a comparable product, so I'm...

So I pulled the intake grate and sealed the pump tunnel from the underside using white 5200. Not sure when I will get to test it, but overall, not too bad to do. Forgot to take pics, but I taped off areas that I did not want the sealant at. Came out really neat and way better than factory!
There were some pretty big gaps re: the fit/finish of the tunnel. Also removed all the huge chunks of old sealant left from the factory.
Hoping for some slight improvement.
