The official "What did you do to your tow vehicle today" thread.

Been wanting to upgrade the audio in my 2017 F-150. The front doors are 6x9 but I wanted to make the switch to a component setup. Ordered some adapter brackets online to make the install easier (or so I thought)

First thing I noticed is that the tweeter mounts did not fit in the adapters

So I used the Dremel and opened them up a bit

A quick bead of hot glue to seal and secure the mounts

With that out of the way, it was time to bust the pry tools out and remove the door panel

The guts

Test fit is no good. Looks like Ford uses some nonstandard speaker size/bracket

So... time to turn the speakers into brackets...

Cut speaker out

Dremel out the basket and coil

Final product cleaned up

My component adapters then needed be shaved down to fit inside the 6x9 speaker bracket

Mounted the speaker. Glued/screwed all brackets and did a little cable management

Test fit is good!

Removed the speaker and added some sound deadening

Put the speaker back in, put it all back together! Windows go up/down without issue, doors lock, and the tunes sound good :)

... sounds like you'll be rockin' down the road now❗
I like your attention to detail on your installation, ... very nice

We also have the Weight-Safe hitch, ... but I truly like your black better
It was more expensive too. Is yours aluminum? Mine is really heavy

Today I installed the front hitch and put together the cargo carrier. My Firman generator or my Weber Traveler fit perfectly. 500 LB capacity, 9000 LB pulling capacity.

I had to trim the lower bumper fascia. No big deal. The hitch bolts right in. No mods needed.
