I'm planning on hooking up the RGB lighting to 4 WS 6.5 speakers tonight and have very limited electrical knowledge. I've read a ton already and feel pretty good about it but still have a couple questions I need help with. Here's my plan so far...
  1. I bought this controller and this wiring to run to each speaker.
  2. I plan on running two leads from behind the helm and taking one run forward around the bow and another run back through the engine bay to the rear port speaker. Basically in the same fashion that @haknslash diagramed here.
  3. The speakers already have the built in RGB 4-pin connector so I was going to use butt splices and heat shrink to connect the tails to the main lead.
Once I get everything connected and back to the helm, this is where my questions start.
  • I know I will attach both leads (from bow and stern) to the controller but then what?
  • Where do I connect the controller for power? Ideally, I'd like to be able to turn them on and off with the courtesy light control in the Connext screen. And then of course I can modify the color via the remote.
  • So could I just tap into the +/- wires coming from the courtesy light?
  • If not, where do I go with it?
  • Lastly, will I be able to have the lights sync with the music or would that involve more hardware?
Any suggestions, especially with photos or diagrams, would be greatly appreciated!

I’m sure the amp isn’t relevant except maybe for syncing with the music so here’s what that looks like too.
